Hope you are feeling better soon.
As far as kids going to school ill are concerned. It's not just about work. If I had kept mine off every time they were ill they would never have been at school. I think as well there is a huge pressure on children to perform well and a pressure on teachers to get all the syllabus in on time. Work is not repeated even if they don't understand it as there is not the time. Keeping them off school would make it so much worse. Maybe I should be ashamed but my eldest is in her final year and she has not had a day off since she started high school. Yes she has been to school ill but in the last two years I would not have got her to stay at home if I had tried.

Oh I know what you mean, my eldest is in year 10 and he has gone to school when he's been ill, he's only been off if its been s&d or when he had swine flu as at his age it's so important not to miss school, he's so much coursework and exams at the moment and he's under so much pressure as it is. I normally only keep my daughter off if she feels really ill for that day and send her back the following day, as im at home she can come home if she starts to feel ill, but this time I let her stay at home as she was coughing non stop all day and awake most of the night coughing, and so tired the following day and ill that it didnt seem fair to send her in in that state, she's just started reception class and is already very advanced for her age, so at this stage I don't think she has missed much.
I don't think you should be ashamed, that's excellent that she has such a good attendance! My son has had to have some half days due to hospital appointments this last year and was off with swine flu, but normally he has 100 % attendance, I think it's something to be proud of .Im feeling a bit better thank you, until I eat food that is! felt ok all afternoon until my tea . xx |
